Why do we associate formal with professional, and casual with less serious?
Dress codes, etiquette, protocols. They all have their place. But sometimes, we’re so busy being proper that we forget to make people feel comfortable.
I’ve seen great business happen over beers and absolutely nothing happen in boardrooms.
Professionalism isn’t about appearances. It’s about how you make people feel and how you conduct yourself.
Formal should create clarity, not tension. Casual should create connection, not carelessness.
And let’s be fair, some of us just look damn good in both. Nothing wrong with that.
